Canine Good Citizen & More!
What is Canine Good Citizen (CGC)?
The answer direct from AKC: "We believe that all dogs can be good dogs, and all owners can be great owners, all it takes is a little bit of training, lots of love, and of course, plenty of praise along the way. That’s why we created the Canine Good Citizen® (CGC) program: an expert-made training program designed to help you and your dog be the best you can be–together. Canine Good Citizen is a 10-skill test that teaches good manners to dogs and responsible dog ownership to their owners."
CGC Course

Attend a six week course to learn and prepare for 10-skill test. We will cover each skill and have ample practice time in small group setting (max 6 dogs). At the end of the course, you & your dog will be evaluated to see if you pass the CGC test. Don't worry if you don't pass the first time, you can re-test with me later at lower cost (instead of full course).
CGC is respected at a great first step by many therapy dog organizations. This is a way to prove your dog has good citizen skills to your landlord, school, hospital or assisted living facilities.
January class is booking now!
S.T.A.R Puppy starting January 2026...
This is a course for puppies 5 to 11 months old. You can only have S.T.A.R. puppy certification if under 1 year old.
Training classes teach you how to best communicate with your puppy. Organized training classes also provide an opportunity for your dog to socialize with other dogs. In classes aimed at earning the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy distinction, you’ll be able to get information on all of your puppy-raising questions including housetraining, chewing, and the most effective way to teach practical skills such as coming when called. AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy training is a natural lead in to the AKC® Canine Good Citizen® Program.
Attend an AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy class for at least 6 weeks. I will administer the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy test at the end of the course. Upon passing the test, you’ll get an application to send to AKC® for the certificate or title (includes certificate). All dogs are welcome to participate in the program including purebreds and mixed breeds.
